Hesburgh

A chronicle of the life of Fr. Theodore Hesburgh, who served as President of the University of Notre Dame from 1952 through 1987. Comprised of archival footage and interviews with family, colleagues, politicians, journalists, and historians the film details Hesburgh’s obstacles and achievements, most notably his role on the U.S. Commision on Civil Rights. Maurice LaMarche provides the voice of Hesburgh, narrating the documentary with words drawn from Hesburgh’s writings and tapes. Peeling back the lore to explore the man at the center of significant cultural shifts, Hesburgh delves into the life and influence of Fr. Theodore Hesburgh, whose responsibilities ranged from former president of the University of Notre Dame to serving on the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights.
